Yet, their impact has been unequal across Europe, in line with the different epistemological traditions. One of the proposals involved the application of concepts from Biogeography to the joint investigation of Atlantic, Schematic and Megalithic Art. This approach was intended to ultimately contribute to a reassessment of the socio-cultural dynamics in Late Prehistory in Northwest Iberia. From a view of ensemble of rock art across the study area, we shall look closely at Penedo Gordo, a site with Schematic Art paintings in the Upper Tâmega valley. This paper brings an overview of the interdisciplinary investigation carried out, combining excavation and rock art recording. Evidence of human activities on site involved the production of lithic industry and one of the excavated layers revealed remains of paint fallen right below a decorated surface.
