AB The present investigation in Creation and Research in Contemporary Art has as its primary purpose the construction and development of an artistic practice from a theoretical-practical component about human finiteness, capable of empowering the viewer to question its existence.With these purposes in mind, we divided the research into two main parts: one of a theoretical-conceptual nature and the other referring to artistic creation.Thus, Part I is constituted around the contemporary reception of the work of art and two hypotheses – [I] Hypothesis – thematic: finitude and [II] Hypothesis – procedural: the poetic, in order to capture the interest of the viewer. Also in terms of artistic practice, we will proceed with the assumption that the expression of materiality manifested in a work of art can also contribute to capture the attention of the viewer – [III] Hypothesis – plastic: the pictorial sensation.In Part II of the investigation, we will present our own artistic practice in order to contribute to the discussion about the impact that works of art can have on the viewer, leading them, if possible, to question the ultimate meaning of their existence.
