However, there is a necessity of reading comprehension improvement in Ecuador. Standard tests show a low performance in this skill. Thus, the thesis explore the implementation of summaries to improve reading comprehension. This strategy will help students not only in English but in other subjects and from different social levels. The methodology that will be apply is mixed. Quantitative data will be given by pre- and post-tests. Qualitative data will be analyzed from surveys, interviews, and field notes.
