Chiroptical responses have been extensively used in the structural characterization of chiral systems and complexes due to their high sensitivity to conformational changes as well as supramolecular interactions. However, the chiroptical devices for everyday applications have not been explored so far. Thus, we hereby propose the construction of chiroptical materials via surface functionalization. Furthermore, the sensitivity of these chiroptical surfaces will be studied for the detection of biomarkers in order to evaluate the scope of this novel approach.
