AB Currently, the pressure to internationalize is great. Selling outside the domestic market is a relevant goal for many Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The motivations for internationalization are several and have been debated over the last decades with great enthusiasm, not only by the literature, but also by public and private agents. However, knowing that rapid international growth can jeopardize the scarce resources available to SMEs, it justifies a growing interest in understanding the phenomenon of speed of internationalization, since it is the key to internationalization strategies.Since the empirical studies on the speed of internationalization that incorporate the Cognitive Style of managers are scarce, this research intends to contribute to the literature of the area. Understanding how the Cognitive Style determines the speed of internationalization of SMEs is particularly important, as managers' attitudes and preferences are at the heart of internationalization activities.An exploratory quantitative analysis is used, in which the speed of internationalization of SMEs will be the result of a complex symbiosis involving the Manager's Cognitive Style (management team) and other organizational and contextual characteristics that, according to the literature of the area, identify the relevant dimensions of the internationalization speed. In order to obtain more knowledge on this topic, the internationalized companies of the Euro-region Galicia / North of Portugal will be analyzed.The study intends to make a global and longitudinal analysis incorporating real variables of the behavior inherent to the international activities, with the aim of presenting the observable trends of the speed of internationalization of the SMEs of the Euro-region of Galicia / North of Portugal.
